Christian Sign

The meaning of my mosaic symbol:
My Symbol is a cross and the fish. The cross represents Jess's sacrifice for mankind, it is also the very place he was killed, even though it has a lot of bible story representation, it also represents the mainly used Christian Symbol. The fish on the mosaic represents the fish that Jesus gave to the people in one of the Bible stories.

Reflect on the process of making a mosaic:
Finding the picture for the mosaic was fairly easy to choose, then all you had to do is choose the colors that would bring out your mosaic and make it more interesting that the others. But the hardest part of actually making the mosaic was cutting out the squares in that same size.

Imagination of making a real scale mosaic in a church over 1500 years ago:
In my opinion it would be very difficult to create a church over 230 feet high, imagine how hard it would be to finish off the top, without any machinery or high tech materials. And the amount of paint would be huge, but also actually painting the mosaics on the church that is over 200 feet high.

Saint Gerard Majella

St. Gerard Majella, he was very religious, is the patron (guardian) of expectant mothers. He was born at Muro, Italy, in 1726, becoming a professed lay brother in 1752. He worked as sacristan, gardener, porter, infirmarian, and tailor. However, because of his wisdom, and his gift of reading consciences, he was permitted to counsel communities of religious women. This great saint is a patron of expectant mothers as a result of a miracle effected through his prayers for woman in labor. He died in 1755 due to tuberculosis  at the age of 29.

Fall of rome

Summarize the reasons for the fall of Rome. In your opinion, which reason(s) was the most important and why?

Geography
Because of the way Rome was shaped (donut), around the Meditiranean, they were unable to trade, and the barbarians could use it as an advantage to attack the west coast

Economic Decline
The army and government grew rapidly they needed to get paid and as the taxes went up so did the prices and the taxes so the wages went down, and Rome could not afford new items.

Growth of the Government
Government demanded more government officials, used it to get rich, civil wars broke out, a lot of resources and money were lost.

Decline of work force
Increase of deaths through out the city, less work, less food, high taxes higher prices for food, poorer wages, which only leads to wars and revolution.

Military Defeat
No longer strong enough to defeat the barbarian army.

In my opinion the Roman empire declined was because of the growth of the government, to much cheating and fraud that let to war and less resources, also the decline of work force, people decided not to work which means that the government wouldn't function and the economy failed because of that, its like they say: money makes the world go, round and round.

JESUS CHRIST…Superstar

If you want to time to fly I advise you to go out and play, because if you watch this movie, you just wasted one hour and forty seven minutes of your life.  This movie is full of misunderstood hippies, reading a not compelling script. The movie is way too short to describe and really show what happened in Jesus’ life. I thought that the fact that some of the soldiers were armed with machineguns from WW2 was confusing and irrelevant to the story. The start of the movie was horrible, you can’t tell whether you are in Jesus’s secret cave or in the city streets, although the beginning of the movie was a complete downer as you got to know each of the characters and the plot it began to twist in a better direction, it was much more entertaining, the ending was nothing special, if you have heard the story of Christ then there is nothing new to look forward to. This movie almost had me sleeping, even with all the songs, the only thing that kept the movie from sinking was Carl Anderson (Judas) he sang his heart out and he played the role of Judas amazingly, it almost had me feel sorry for him.
The title of the movie (Jesus Christ Superstar) may make it seem entertaining, but the story is only 1/12 of your expectations of entertaining. It was written by Andrew Loyd Webber, this is one of the biggest surprises he has written such great scripts and Oscar nominated scenes, but this certainly would fall into the beginner category. The actors that were suppose to keep the story interesting were; Ted Neeley, Carl Anderson and Yvonne Elliman, they failed to keep it entertaining not because of the acting, but because of the dry script. It was written it 1973, it is a great movie for that time, but if it had to be compared to today’s movies like Die hard or Warrior it is a “thumbs down.” The movie is a basic tale of the Bible; it covers most of Jesus’s highlights, and things that you have already heard millions of times. To make it even worse it is all in song which gets incredibly annoying.
The movie is all about Jesus’s life, it has a lot of controversial parts, but the main idea is the conflict between Judas and Jesus, were Judas believes that Jesus could have gone way out of hand with what he has been doing, and is becoming a “superstar” hence the title, if Jesus listens to one of his best advisers or will he listen to his selfish conscience. The movie is a “rock opera” this means that not one single word is said in the whole movie, only songs are sung these songs get repetitive and annoying. If you are that type of person that likes to smack themselves with a bat in order to forget a song so that you can sleep, this is certainly the movie for you.
Besides the annoyingness and lack of entertainment, the movie wasn’t all that horrible, some characters kept me and most likely the rest of the audience entertained, we can take Judas as an example, you could see that he was having fun as he was acting and that he took his character seriously and really put his “blood, sweat, love” into this movie. His vocals were of the hook and his movement swayed with the scene. The second character that intrigued me was Simon (the Zealot) just like  Carl Anderson he really enjoyed playing in this rock opera, he sings like a lion, and his acting is just spectacular, he made me laugh a couple of times just because of his facial expression, and the way he prays and really believes in Jesus is… believable.
This movie will be either boring or a waste of time for most generations, there is not enough action for the new generation, and there is not enough laughter for the “old” generation, the only people who might enjoy this would be parents because of its “spiritual” meaning. Most of the actors in this movie are unable to act without either staring straight at the camera or forgetting that their onset. I give this movie: 11 crosses out of 50

blog post 2

Explain in detail how the geography and climate of the Italian peninsula affectedthe development of ancient Rome.

The geography of ancient rome, was simulare to greece. It used to be a peninsula, some rocky mauntains and a coastline. It had the Addriatic on one side, and the Tyrrhenian on the other side, and the Ionian and Mediterranean. Greece was one of the closest countries next to it. There were many mountains on the main land. One of which is Appeniens, this is a rugged mountain that was easy to get over, which means that the Italians were formed together. The mountain was very unique because it was good for farming which gave the Italians Surpluses. Rome was very similar, Rome has been a steady state since 1500 B.C.E, it was created next to the river Tiber, and surrounded by large mountains, and hills which would protect from attackers, which means they had an almost perfect trade route going through their settlements. Rome grew mainly because of their land, it was rich which allowed them to have surplus. Rome also had trades close to the Mediterranean which left trades with Italy.

The Romans had an important position in Italy, it was the invader or it was invaded. soon the Romans were defeated by the Etrusca, but as time went on the Romans assembled a much more powerful army defeating the Etrusca. The geography matters because it didn't separate Italy. It also helped in trade they had easy trade therefor Rome became rich and had a surplus of food, and had the great hills to protect it self.
